May 30 - June 1
Come for an experiential and exploratory weekend of Milonguero Style Tango for intermediate/advanced tango dancers with Liz Haight! Liz has been teaching Milonguero Style Tango for 22 years and is one of the founders of the Encuentro network in North America. Liz has studied with many well known dancers in the Milonguero community over the years (Ruben Harymbat, Juan Manuel Suarez, Pedro Sanchez, Luis Rojas). However, her most influential and main teachers were Ricardo Vidort, Osvaldo Cartery (2004 world champion), and for the past 23 years, Alicia Pons. Her work comes from a lineage of Milonguero Style dancers who have understood the dance as primarily an energetic, emotional, and sensory experience. Liz's work focuses on the internal flow of movement within a grounded, relaxed, deeply comfortable embrace - the hallmark of Milonguero Style Tango. Through relaxation and ease, we will use figures to explore depth of connection, communication between partners, and musical expression. The intention of the workshop is to develop a deeply pleasurable, natural, and lush quality in our dance, one that is personal and unique to each of us.
